Super leauge final 5th April 2008
Mavericks V Loughborough Lightning

Lots of the girls from the club and plenty of parents went to the match. A very close and exciting match which Mavericks won win 43-39.

From the Telephgraph: "A WORLD CLASS defensive display from Amanda Newton, Clare Elsley and Naomi Siddall helped Mavericks to a superb second half fight back to take the in the Co-operative Netball Superleague title today. Trailing 21-14 at half time, Mavericks turned the match around to avenge their losses in the previous two Grand Finals and win 43-39 against Loughborough Lightning at the K2 in Crawley. But Loughborough’s 19-year-old shooter Jo Harten caught the eye of many spectators and no doubt, the national selectors looking for new talent ahead of next week’s three-match test series against Malawi. Harten was outstanding for much of the match, shouldering not just the bulk of shooting responsibility for her side, but also making numerous mid-court interceptions and providing a seamless link between defence and attack, alongside former England captain Olivia Murphy. She finished the game with 24 goals from 30 attempts, and while she may have made a couple of errors in the final quarter, Harten has certainly staked her claim on a place in the England squad."
